| Changing Your Life by Changing Your Attitude, Behaviour and Environment |
|
| |
"Nothing changes if nothing changes, and if I keep doing what I've always done, I'll keep getting what I've
always got, and will keep feeling what I always felt." Unknown |

Fear of change is often the greatest inhibitor to attaining happiness. People would rather do nothing than step outside their (dis)comfort zones or fail.
Changes don't have to big and scary, in fact you can positively change your life by changing your attitude, behaviour and / or environment.
Let's say you have been stuck in the same boring job as a Marketing Manager in a publishing company for over three years. You can continue to be stuck and miserable or take short, medium and long term actions. Here's how: |
| |
|
| |
In the next week I will watch every negative thought that creeps into my head about my job and stop it in its tracks as the pessimism just makes me more miserable.
In the next 3-6 months I will stop blaming my job for my unhappy circumstances and take responsibility for the choices I've made which got, and keep me here.
In the next year I will actively focus on what I want instead of what I don't want. |
| |
|
| |
In the next week I will not gossip with any of my colleagues.
In the next 3-6 months I will determine what I want out of my next job by reading, learning what my values are, what I'm passionate about, putting together my resume and applying for a new role.
In the next year I will have a new job that is in alignment with my values. I will treat this job like any relationship and state my needs, boundaries, provide positive feedback and do my best to keep it healthy and happy. |
| |
|
| |
In the next week I will leave my desk and go outside and sit in the park for lunch.
In the next 3-6 months I will find a new place to work.
In the next year I will be in a work environment that values me and I feel challenged and fulfilled by my work.
See, baby steps all the way, nothing scary about that. Even the actions within the first week will help alleviate your job frustration - when you proactively do something to escape the rut you always feel better than when you're wallowing in the chasm of the 'same old, same old'.
